Privacy Policy for Paper Cat

Last updated: 23.09.2026

Paper Cat is a macOS application for formatting documents and converting them between formats. It was previously called Document Formatter.

What this program is for:

PAPER CAT is designed for writers, archivists, publishers, students, and everyone who works with text and large numbers of text files.

The program can give one or many text files the same appearance or save them in a different format.

You can select one or more files, or an entire folder. When you select a folder, the program automatically finds suitable files in all folders inside it.

Formatting a DOCX file changes the design of all text, including titles and headings.

The program converts the following formats:

DOC → DOCX
TXT → DOCX
RTF → DOCX
PDF → DOCX
DOCX → PDF

All files are processed only on your computer.

The program uses Microsoft Word to convert PDF files. When you use this function for the first time, your computer may ask for permission to control Microsoft Word and access the Documents folder. You accept these system permissions once.

After conversion, the program asks whether to keep the original files or move them to your computer’s Trash. Original files are not removed without your choice.

Data collection:

The app operates entirely on your computer. It does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. All data you work with remains on your device. The app does not connect to the internet, does not send information to any servers, and does not access your contacts, files, or other personal information beyond what you directly open in the app.
