Privacy Policy for Secretary
Last updated: September 12, 2026
Secretary is a desktop application for macOS used to prepare and send invitations and reminder emails for events such as exhibitions, lectures, and similar gatherings, and to manage the contacts these are sent to.
Data the app collects and accesses
The app stores contact information the user adds or imports: names, email addresses, and any details entered for them, such as city or preferred language. To send emails and check on their delivery, the app connects, through Google sign-in, to the Gmail account of the person using it. This access is used only to send the invitation and reminder emails the user creates in the app, and to check that account for permanently failed deliveries and unsubscribe requests, so invalid or opted-out addresses can be removed from the contact list.
Where data is stored
All contact and event data is stored locally on the user’s own computer. Account credentials and access tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain. The app has no server of its own; nothing is transmitted to or stored by the app’s developer.
Sharing
No data is sold, shared, or transmitted to any third party. Emails are sent directly from the user’s own Gmail account to the recipients they choose.
User control
The user can view, edit, or delete any contact stored in the app at any time.
Use of Google user data
The app’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
